Hello Gaspard, can you sum up your career path?
ESCE leads to everything, I am living proof of that! After graduating in 1993, I quickly felt the call of the sea and in 1996 I went abroad to work for a press agency that had me living in sixteen countries and on four continents. I moved to Spain in 2003 to set up an outdoor advertising company. The crisis of 2008 took away my small business and my entrepreneurial ambitions. I became an employee again, leaving advertising for new technologies.
A glamorous but somewhat unstable sector that I left in 2016 to work as a sales manager for a paper mill, a position I currently hold. I still live in Spain, in San Sebastian.
What made you decide to go into the paper industry?
I've always liked writing, it's a way of escaping. I started by writing a novel, and then I wrote a book about my experience as an entrepreneur. Having lived in Spain for 20 years, I then compiled in an essay (Bienvenue chez les Ibériques) the anecdotes of a "franchouillard" discovering this country. My latest book, Bienvenue chez les Gaulois, is about France, a country I know very well...since I haven't lived there for 25 years!

What did ESCE bring to you during this course ?
I loved the 4 years I spent at ESCE. Apart from its "classic assets": training, internships, community life, etc., I met wonderful people at ESCE who allowed me to evolve and grow professionally, but especially personally. "There is only wealth in people" wrote Saint-Exupéry... and he was right!
Any advice for Alumni ?
Don't be afraid! Fear is the greatest evil of humanity. It divides, makes people unhappy, sometimes even bitter, and above all it destroys dreams. "So many times I have been afraid of things that never happened", everyone can say this sentence, unfortunately.
Go after your dreams, there should be no limit to that!
